Opera's Public Fountain

Sunday August 26, 2007

In the town of Opera there is a very cute little park, lined with bike paths and benches and a large green area. In the center of this park, there is a public fountain, where people are allowed to come and fill bottles of spring water. A line forms around the spouts of water, allowing community members to choose gas or natural. Teachers from the American School kindly call this place the magic fountain. I half wonder why there aren’t spouts for wine? For I have found that in this country, water is more expensive than the vino.

We did have tremendous fun filling our bottles and mingling with the other community members. I am on the look out for glass bottles, because my plastic ones from the Coop (the local grocery) just don’t cut it!
